The Board of Directors of Kern County Taxpayers Association has announced it positions on the propositions on this June's Statewide Election:
KERNTAX supports Prop 13.
KERNTAX does not have a position on Prop 14.
KERNTAX does not have a position on Prop 15.
KERNTAX opposes Prop 16.
KERNTAX opposes Prop 17.

The Board of Directors of the Kern County Taxpayers Association took the following actions at its March 19, 2009 Board Meeting:
* Received a presentation by Darrell Hildebrand of Kern COG on the local implementation of SB 375.
* Voted not to support Prop 1A
* Voted not to support Prop 1B
* Voted not to support Prop 1C.
* Voted not to support Prop 1D.
* Voted not to support Prop 1E.
* Voted not to support Prop 1F.
KERNTAX Board Actions, February 19, 2009
The Board of Directors of the Kern County Taxpayers Association took the following actions at its February 19, 2009 Board Meeting:
* Discussed improving internal and external communications through the use of new communication tools: Wikis, Facebook, and Twitter.
* Reviewed midyear budget adjustments by the Kern County Board of Supervisors.
* Reviewed the newly adopted state budget.
KERNTAX Board Actions, January 15, 2009
The Board of Directors of the Kern County Taxpayers Association took the following actions at its January 15, 2009 Board Meeting:
* Voted to re-elect Marianna Buoni, Chair; Susie Geiger, Vice-Chair; and Linda Heald, Secretary-Treasurer for 2009.
* No new policy positions were established.
KERNTAX Board Actions November 20, 2008
The Board of Directors of the Kern County Taxpayers Association took the following actions at its November 20, 2008 Board Meeting:
* Reviewed The Kern County Government 2009 Report Card draft.
* Voted to support creation of the Metro Bakersfield Transportation Funding Oversight Committee.
* Reviewed past opposition to new state taxes and decided to continue opposition to new state taxes including the oil severance tax, increases in the state sales tax, increases to car registration taxes, and any others that may be proposed.
* Voted to support Joel Heinrich's proposal for Educational reform at the Kern High School District.
KERNTAX Board Actions October 16, 2008
The Board of Directors of the Kern County Taxpayers Association took the following actions at its October 16, 2008 Board Meeting:
* Voted to support cosolidation of governmental services in Metro Bakersfield and establish a committee to study these issues and others as they arise and make recommenation to the Board as issues require.
* Directed the Executive Director to write a letter to the Public Utilitiies Commission in opposition the the City of Bakersfield's new one percent utility users tax to be collected by PG&E.

The Board of Directors of the Kern County Taxpayers Association took the following actions at its September 18, 2008 Board Meeting:
* Listened to Assemblymember Jean Fuller discussed the state budget crisis and answered numerous questions on various issues.
* No new positions were taken.

The Board of Directors of the Kern County Taxpayers Association took the following actions at its August 21, 2008 Board Meeting:
* Voted to support Prop 1A: High Speed Rail Bond.
* Voted to oppose Prop 3: Children's Hospital Bond Act.
* Voted to oppose Prop 5: Nonvilent Sentencing, Parole, Rehabilitation.
* Voted to oppose Prop 6: Criminal Penalties and Laws. Public Safety Funding.
* Voted to oppose Prop 9: Criminal Justice. Victim's Rights. Parole.
* Voted to oppose Prop 10: Alternative Fuel Vehicles and Renewable Energy Bonds.
* Voted to support Prop 12: Veterans' Bond Act of 2008.
KERNTAX Board Actions, July 17, 2008
The Board of Directors of the Kern County Taxpayers Association took the following actions at its July 17, 2008 Board Meeting:
* Listened to Tiffany Rau of Hydrogen Energy International, LLC, make a presentation on the future of hydrogen energy in Kern County.
* Voted to ask the KCBOS to place a referndum on the November ballot to increase the local sales tax one cent for road, public safety and public health projects.
* Voted to oppose Prop 2: Treatment of Farm Animals.
* Voted not to take a position on Prop 4: Parental notification Before Termination of Minor's Pregnancy.
* Voted to oppose Prop 7: Renewable Energy.
* Voted not to take a position on Prop 8: Limit on Marriage.
* Voted to support Prop 11: Legislative Redistricting.

The Board of Directors of the Kern County Taxpayers Association took the following actions at its June 19, 2008 Board Meeting:
* Listened to Gene Voiland make a presentation on California Forward.
* Voted to join California Forward.

* Listened to Bill Chadick, Big West Refinery, give a presentation on Big West's Clean Fuels Project.
* Adopted resolution on the State Budget Process.
* Adopted resolution on Local Tax and Fee Increases.

* Voted to establish a 501(c) 3 nonprofit for research and educational purposes.
* Voted to join the coalition, Californians Against Another Risky Energy Proposition (Prop 7, Nov. 2008)
* Voted to support AB 2179, Disclosure of Non-voter Approved Debt.
* Voted to support the Kernville Union Elementary School Bond Measure.

* Voted to support the Wasco Union High School District Bond Measure on the June ballot.
